Stressed, Messed But Well Expressed

I think it's important to shut the fuck up sometimes

Eclipse in Chile

It’s wilder than that. You feel the temperature drop around you. Animals start to freak out cause they think night has fallen. Even more crazy is shadow snakes. Where you see the shadows around you start to shimmer. Kind of like the shadows of atmospheric disturbances you see during really hot days or near a fire.

You can learn more about this in SmarterEveryDay’s video

And here’s a video that captures the shadow snakes

My unga bunga ancestors, absolutely surrounded by shadow snakes during an eclipse

Also, the overall tone of the light is wrong and it’s almost impossible to articulate why.

It’s not dark per se, but the light doesn’t just seem dimmed, it seems like it’s in a different spectrum.

It feels like when a movie puts a filter over the film to indicate that something very very bad is happening, like an eldritch horror has arrived offscreen, and the bad light is slowly sucking your soul out of your body, only it’s real life, and the bad light permeates everywhere.

Imagine being a caveman and looking up one day to see the sky has gone dark and what looks to be God’s eye is starting directly at you

took this on my porch during the partial solar eclipse in 2017. those crescent-shaped shadows are because that’s just what the sun was doing. they were everywhere. it was wild

Also if you’re even slightly sensitive to barometric pressure you can physically feel it drop like a ROCK the minute the sun fades. It’s one of the spookiest feelings I’ve ever had.

Remember everyone that there is going to be a solar eclipse NEXT YEAR (2024) on the 8th of April, which will hit large portions of the eastern US, so now is as good a time as any to see if its within reach of you, and make travel arrangements if so

Fun facts of the day!

- State charges cannot be pardoned by the President of the United States. They have to be pardoned by the governor of the state in which the crime was committed

- the governor of Georgia does not have pardon power, that power was stripped in 1943 by the Georgia state legislature

- TV cameras are forbidden in federal court. TV cameras are permitted in state court. It’s already been stated that Donald Trump’s Georgia trial will be televised

- Donald Trump will be booked, processed, fingerprinted, and have his mug shot taken just like any other person who enters the Fulton country jail. They don’t believe in special treatment down there

- the Georgia RICO statue carries a 5 year mandatory minimum sentence which cannot be revoked by a judge

You know, after a hundred days of strike, I have noticed absolutely no differences.

I mean, they say shows are canceled because of it, but they would cancel shows for any reason or no reason at all. They often wouldn’t tell us one way or another for months or years. Functionally, the uncertainty is the same.

The same goes for delays. How the hell am I supposed to tell if some show or another was delayed? They were never released in any sort of timely fashion before. What does a delay even mean when there is nothing even resembling a schedule? I mean, there wasn’t even something like “within the first two weeks of august we will put something up for you to watch.”

Zero accountability means they got away with whatever bullshit practices they wanted to, but now its cutting both ways. Any claim that this strike is negatively impacting me is meaningless because Netflix and most the other entities like them have built a system where it is extremely difficult to hold anyone accountable for anything.

And now they seem to think they can just bring accountability back? If they had numbers they could point to maybe it would work, but that’s half the battle here. They are desperate to avoid releasing anything that tells anyone outside the company what the hell is going on. So we are just supposed to take their word for it, no really bro, it’s actually really bad for you and all the strikers fault if only you could see the numbers that we refuse to show you, you’re just gonna have to trust us bro.

Heads up for artists - Twitter has updated their privacy policy to enable any and all tweets to be used to train AI models.

If you have your art on there you may want to take it down before it comes into effect on September 29th

Super important. I don’t share my art via twitter. But I have colleagues who do.

ID: a screenshot from a Word document where Pro-Writing-Aid is making a readability suggestion. The sentence flagged as hard to read is "What happened to dinner?" The suggested fix to make the text easier to read is "What dinnered?"ALT

When I say editing software is getting dumber, this is what I mean.

In what world is “What dinnered?” more legible than “What happened to dinner?” I just… what?!

blood being frequently described as having a “coppery smell” in fiction is kind of funny considering that there is a metallic component to blood and it’s not copper

in fact if your blood smells or tastes like copper you probably have more urgent things to worry about than it being outside your body. it’s probably better that it’s not inside you anymore actually.

story where blood is described as smelling or tasting “coppery” and it’s actually early foreshadowing that all the characters are suffering from heavy metal poisoning

Comment from @clownmeat69 which says "story where someones blood is described as coppery and its foreshadowing them secretly being a horseshoe crab".ALT
